Passing Cisco QOS 642-642 exam yesterday, 11 August 2007, makes me thinking that I’d actually been wasting my time for more than half a year by not studying nor doing any exam. It was like having my life stopped by the time I got a new job and suddenly it changed my expectation and perspective to study and advancing my knowledge.
It was all about taking a determined initiative to start studying and get myself on track and finally I did my my first exam in 2007. My first exam from January to August, 8 long lazy months. Way out of my (1) (2) tracks.

I took the Cisco CCIP Certification Guide (IP Telephony Self-Study), 2nd Edition from the shelf about two months ago and started reading. That was the only book I read. I know that I’m not an aficionados of Exam Certification Guide series but it was the only book I can get for QOS material. There is no QOS Study Guide book. However, Wendell Odom, as one of the author, never cease to amaze my with his high quality book which always stand above the rest by giving details for all QOS material. He was not just creating an “Exam Certification Guide” but he was actually creating an “All-in-one Guide” for you to pass the exam. Kudos!

I read the book twice. First time reading was never that impressive as I really didn’t know what to understand. QOS was quite hard as I don’t have any experience with it. Second reading was much better, slower, but I managed to get the idea.

Another thing that I just realized that Certinside didn’t do Cisco 642-642 exam anymore and I had to register to Pearson VUE and it apparently was very easy. Create a new account on Pearson VUE website, mentioned your Certinside ID and CSCO ID, pick the exam and location, schedule it, and you’re all set.
